I want you to think about a moment in your life when you stood at a crossroads. A decision that felt so heavy it seemed to have its own gravity. Maybe it was a job offer. A relationship. A move to a new city.
You had Path A and Path B. And you chose one.
But have you ever wondered… what happened to the “you” who took the other path?
I used to be obsessed with this idea.
When I was 26, running a struggling startup in a windowless room in New York, drowning in debt, I felt trapped on a path I didn’t choose. This wasn’t the life I had dreamed of. I felt like there had to be another version of my life out there. A timeline where a different Vishen had made better choices, and was happier, more successful, more fulfilled.
What if I could talk to that guy? What if he could give me advice?
This question didn’t just change my life. It led me to discover a technique that I can honestly say is the secret weapon behind Mindvalley’s success, my biggest creative breakthroughs, and my most important life decisions.
It’s a technique I call Quantum Jumping.
Now, before you dismiss this as science fiction, hear me out. Quantum Jumping isn’t about physically leaping through spacetime. It’s a powerful mental framework for accessing wisdom and guidance from a source you might not even realize you have: an alternate, more successful version of you.
The masters behind the method
The idea is rooted in the work of my first-ever teacher in this field, the legendary Jose Silva. Silva taught that when we enter the Alpha level of mind — that calm, creative state of meditation — we can access abilities that seem almost psychic.
But it was my next teacher, the brilliant Burt Goldman, who took this a step further.

Burt was a true master, having studied with some of the greatest minds of the 20th century, from Silva himself to the great yogi Paramahansa Yogananda. It was Burt who coined the term “Quantum Jumping.” He believed that in the multiverse of infinite possibilities, there are countless versions of you living out different lives based on different choices. And in a deep meditative state, you could connect with them.
Burt became my mentor, and the stories of what he could do with this technique were mind-blowing.
During a five-day break in one of his classes, his students challenged him to pick up a new mental-based skill. They chose photography. Burt did an early version of his Quantum Jumping technique. A few days later, while walking on a rocky shore in San Diego, he slipped. Suddenly, a voice in his head commanded, “Plant yourself. Take lots of photos.”
He planted his feet firmly, and without moving them, he pivoted his body, taking picture after picture. When he developed the prints, he scattered them on his hotel bed and saw something incredible. The photos formed a stunning, 3D-like collage of the shoreline. This became his signature art form, with pieces selling for over $10,000.
But he didn’t stop there. In his mid-80s, Burt decided he wanted to learn piano. He used the same technique. Four months later, he was playing beautifully, composing his own music.
Burt showed me that our potential isn’t limited by our current skills or age. He passed this incredible technique on to me, and it’s my honor to share its official version with you.
The “science” of a quantum jump
So, how does this work? It starts with understanding altered states of consciousness.
Most of our waking life is spent in the Beta brainwave state. It’s great for getting things done, for focus and alertness. But it’s not where intuition and deep change happen.
When you relax or meditate, your brainwaves slow down to Alpha. This is a state of calm creativity, healing, and light relaxation.
But the magic happens when you go even deeper, to Theta.
Theta is the state of deep meditation, hypnosis, and dreaming. It’s where your subconscious mind is most open to suggestion. More importantly, science is beginning to show that it’s a state where our intuition is dramatically amplified.
Consider the Ganzfeld experiments from the University of Edinburgh. In these studies, a “receiver” was placed in a sensory deprivation tank (a state that induces Theta), while a “sender” in another room looked at one of four random images. The sender’s job was to mentally “beam” the image to the receiver.
By pure chance, the receiver should guess the correct image 25% of the time (1 in 4). But in the studies, the success rate jumped to 33%. That’s a massive leap, a statistical impossibility that points to a hidden channel of communication — our intuition.
Quantum Jumping leverages this intuitive Theta state to connect you not with another person, but with another you. A you that has already solved the problem you’re facing, achieved the goal you’re chasing, and embodies the qualities you wish to possess.
How to take your first quantum jump
While the full guided experience takes about 20 minutes, the process itself is something you can learn and practice. Here’s the essence of the journey:
1. Set your intention. Before you begin, get clear on your goal. Is it financial freedom? Finding love? Launching your business? Hold this goal in your mind. Now, imagine a version of you in a parallel universe who has already achieved this. They are the same age as you, but they made a few different choices, and today, they are living that reality. This is the “doppelgänger” you will visit.
2. Enter the altered state. Find a comfortable, seated position where you won’t be disturbed. Through guided relaxation (like the 3-to-1 method), you’ll calm your body and mind, moving from Beta, through Alpha, and towards the Theta state.
3. The mental sanctuary (your spaceship). You’ll imagine yourself in a control room, like the bridge of a spaceship. Before you is a vast window showing millions of stars — each one a potential reality. This is your safe space, your launchpad.
4. The jump. You’ll be guided to a “jumping-off point door.” As you open it, you’ll step into the vastness of space and float towards the reality of the doppelgänger you intend to meet.
5. Observe your doppelgänger. You arrive as an invisible observer, floating near the ceiling. You watch this alternate version of you.
- How do they dress? How do they carry themselves?
- What does their home or workplace look like?
- How do they interact with others? What is their emotional state? Confident? Joyful? At ease?
- Observe the effortlessness. If your goal is wealth, notice how effortlessly they handle money. If it’s health, see how easily they make healthy choices.
6. The merge. This is the most powerful moment. Your doppelgänger notices you, smiles, and invites you to come closer. You float down, and as you hold hands, you are invited to merge your energy fields. You step into their being, and they into yours. For a moment, you become one. In this state, you don’t just see their success, you feel it. You absorb their confidence, their wisdom, their frequency.
7. Return and integrate. After the merge, you separate, express gratitude, and are instantly transported back to your spaceship. You then gently return to full waking consciousness, feeling refreshed and changed.

The Universe isn’t teasing you
When people emerge from this journey, the results are profound. They feel lighter, more confident, and full of clarity. They cry tears of joy from meeting a version of themselves they loved and admired.
Most importantly, they come back with clues. A book they saw on their doppelgänger’s table. A city they were in. A type of food they were eating. A person they were with. These aren’t random images; they are intuitive breadcrumbs from your deeper self, showing you the path forward.
The universe isn’t teasing you by showing you this possibility. It’s showing you what is available to you. Once you have the insight, the shift can be incredibly fast.
So, tonight, before you sleep, play a little game. Ask yourself, “What if?”
What if you really were that version of you? What if life was that easy, that joyful, that abundant?
Pay attention to the feeling that question evokes. That feeling is the key. It’s the fuel for your own Quantum Leap into the extraordinary life that is waiting for you.
