I want to tell you about the most expensive lie your brain has ever told you.
It’s a lie that dictates your money, success, or whether you’re good enough, and it hides quietly dictating all your decisions. It’s the lie that you are the one in charge.
You think your decisions are thoughtful, conscious, reasonable.
For most of my life, I believed that too.
I believed that if I just thought hard enough, planned carefully enough, wanted it badly enough, I could steer my life wherever I chose.
And then, a few years ago, I put my brain under a scanner, and what I saw quietly dismantled that belief, and I’ve never quite been able to rebuild it.
Stay with me here, because I think what I learned might do the same for you.
And at the end of this letter, I’m going to give you something free that can actually start to rewire that lie.
The 95% problem is…
What happens in your subconscious mind.

Here is the fact:
Dr. Bruce Lipton, a cell biologist who taught at Stanford, estimates that 95 to 99% of your daily life is run by your subconscious, not the deliberate, willpower-driven “you” that you identify with.
The conscious mind is in the driver’s seat maybe 5% of the time. The rest is autopilot: programs, habits, beliefs installed so long ago you don’t even experience them as beliefs anymore. You experience them as reality.
And here’s the part that matters for you and me:
Most of those programs were written before you were seven years old.
Before you could read a contract, you signed one, soaking up the emotional rules of the household, your parents’ relationship with money, their fear, the offhand comment from a teacher, the thing you decided about yourself in a single frightened moment.
That program got written straight to the hard drive of your brain. And it’s been running you ever since.
So what does that program actually look like, running inside you?
World’s #1 Hypnotherapist: Paul McKenna, explains it better than anyone I’ve ever heard.
He calls them the Movies of Your Mind. The way you feel from one moment to the next isn’t caused by what’s happening around you.
It’s caused by the little films you run in your imagination, the pictures, the sounds, the inner voice. There is research showing that “the human nervous system cannot tell the difference between a real and a vividly imagined event.”
So when your subconscious plays you the old movie, you’ll embarrass yourself, there’s never enough, don’t ask for too much, your body responds as if it’s happening right now.
The fear is real. The stress chemicals are real. The shrinking-back is real.
All triggered by a film shot decades ago, that you didn’t direct and never agreed to star in.
That’s what a 30-year-old program feels like from the inside.
But a movie can be re-cut. And there is nobody on Earth better at re-cutting them than Paul.
Let me make this uncomfortably specific
Think about the area of your life that has stubbornly refused to change no matter how hard you’ve tried.
For a lot of people it’s money. You want to earn more, charge more, keep more, and yet some invisible ceiling keeps pulling you back to “just enough.”
You get close to a breakthrough, and something sabotages it. You undercharge without meaning to. You feel a strange discomfort when there’s finally a cushion in the bank, as if you don’t deserve to hold it.
I know that one intimately, so let me tell you my own story.
Years ago, Mindvalley was doing well by every external measure, and I was personally broke. Not because the company wasn’t profitable. Because I kept giving all of it away. Every cent. Some part of me physically could not keep money. It felt wrong. Uncomfortable. Like holding something that belonged to someone else.
It made no logical sense. I understood money. I could teach business. And still the pattern ran.
It took a hypnotherapist to walk me back to where it started.
I was around nine or ten. My parents took me shopping, and I overheard them, quietly, tensely, worrying about money. Standing in that shop, I made a decision. I didn’t experience it as a decision; a child never does. But I decided, in the space of a few seconds: “Don’t ask for too much. If you take, someone you love will suffer.”
That was it. A frightened kid, writing a line of code. And that line of code ran my finances for the next two decades.
Here’s what I need you to understand, because it’s the most freeing thing I know: that was never a willpower problem. It was a programming problem.
And you cannot fix a programming problem with willpower, any more than you can fix a software bug by shouting at the screen.
Willpower is conscious. The bug is subconscious.
You’re bringing 40 bits to a 40-million-bit fight.
That’s why New Year’s resolutions fail. That’s why the diet comes back. That’s why the confidence you rehearsed in the mirror evaporates the second you walk into the room.
It’s not that you’re weak. It’s that you’ve been trying to win an argument with a part of your mind that isn’t even listening to arguments.
So how do you rewrite the program?
You go underneath the argument.
You reach the subconscious directly, in the same downloadable, suggestible state you were in as a child when the programs were first written. There’s a name for that state. We’ve turned it into a punchline, a stage act, a swinging pocket watch.
It’s hypnosis. And nobody alive does it better than Paul McKenna.
I’m thinking about this today for a very specific reason.
As I write this to you, Paul is walking on stage at Mindvalley U, which is happening right now in Estonia, in front of a live audience, doing what he does best.
(This one’s an in-person event, so it’s not something you can jump into today, but hold on, because I have something for you.)

Here’s the thing about Paul.
He’s worked with hundreds of thousands of people, and he says something I’ve never forgotten: “There’s as little as 1% difference between being a champion and an also-ran, and the difference that makes the difference is confidence.”
I’ve watched him prove that on stage, over and over, doing in twenty minutes what years of effort couldn’t.
The reason his approach works is simple: he doesn’t argue with your conscious mind.
He goes underneath it, to where the programs actually live, and rewrites them at the source.
As he puts it, in his work you “turn off the fear and turn up your personal power.”
The hypnotherapy experiment I want you to run
Now, I could keep quoting studies from you. But this has never been about handing you information. It’s about handing you an experience.

My team started blowing up my phone about a single audio track in the Mindvalley app.
“This is the most powerful meditation I’ve ever done.”
“Best thing in the entire library.”
I was skeptical; we have thousands of tracks, and I’d stopped expecting any single one to be life-changing. But I ran the experiment. I listened to this hypnotic meditation with headphones, 5 days in a row.
By day five, something had shifted in me that no amount of journaling or willpower had ever produced. I felt lighter under pressure. The background hum of anxiety I’d learned to treat as normal had gone quiet. I could hold three hard projects in my head without tipping into overwhelm. My decisions got faster and cleaner. My baseline had moved.
The track is called Hypnotic Trance Bliss, created by Paul McKenna — and in 2024 our community voted it the single best audio in the entire app.
For the next two weeks, I’m making it free for you.

Here’s how to run the experiment properly: headphones on, somewhere you won’t be disturbed, five days in a row. Don’t try to “do” anything. Don’t concentrate. That’s the whole point: you let the front of your mind get out of the way.
And if you’re wondering why a 20-minute audio can do what a glass of wine, a vacation, or a stern talking-to-yourself can’t, it’s because Paul isn’t speaking to your conscious mind at all.
He bypasses it.
He feeds slightly different suggestions into your left and right ears.
He tells odd little stories, drops in gentle confusions and riddles that keep your logical, analytical brain busy trying to untangle them.
And while the bouncer at the front door is distracted, the real work slips in behind it.
The old program gets quietly overwritten. It feels a little strange the first time. The strangeness is the sign it’s working.
And if 20 minutes can do that…
That’s the question that’s been sitting with me.
If five days of a 20-minute recording can move my baseline, what could four hours, live, with the man himself, actually do?
I don’t have to wonder, because I’ve done it.
And this year, I’m inviting you into the room.
Once a year and only once, we bring Paul McKenna live to the entire Mindvalley community for a 4-hour hypnotherapy seminar.

If you don’t know Paul: he is, quite simply, the most successful hypnotherapist alive. Over 12 million books sold.
He’s worked with everyone from Hollywood actors to Olympic athletes to royalty. The Times of London named him one of the most important modern self-help figures on Earth. When people talk about the world’s #1 hypnotherapist, they are not being loose with the phrase. They mean him, specifically.
And on Sunday, August 9, he is going to take you, live, in real time, through three subconscious rewrites in the three areas most of us fight our entire lives:
1. Money & Abundance. He’ll guide you to find and dismantle the wealth ceiling you inherited before you were old enough to choose it, the exact thing that ran my finances for twenty years, and install a new one that actually fits the person you’ve become.
2. Optimal Weight & Health. Not another diet. A rewiring of the emotional, automatic relationship with food, the late-night reach, the stress-eating, the “I’ve been good all week, and now I’ll undo it” cycle, at the root, so your healthiest state stops being a daily battle and becomes your default.
3. Unshakable Confidence. The one I felt first-hand. He’ll install the kind of calm, bodily self-belief you don’t have to summon or fake, the kind that changes how you speak, what you ask for, and what you dare to attempt. After my own session with this work, I raised my speaking fees by 66% and started saying yes to stages that would have terrified the old me. And the world said yes back.
This is not a lecture about transformation. It’s four hours of guided, real-time subconscious work, together, as a global community. It’s the single most direct experience of this I know how to give you.

There are no recordings and no replays; this is live, once, together, and then it’s gone.
Before you go
I opened this letter with a lie, the lie that you’re the one in charge.
Let me close with the truth that replaces it: 95% of your life is running on programs you didn’t consciously write. But programs can be rewritten.
Start with the free meditation track today.
Feel your subconscious move even a little.
Come learn from Paul LIVE on the 9th, and feel what happens when you rewire your subconscious.
With calm and confidence,

PS: If this stirred something in you, I’d love to hear it. Drop a comment here. Are you as excited as I am to experience the power of your subconscious being rewired in real time? We’ll be reading every comment.
P.P.S: Once you’ve felt your own programming shift, a strange thing happens: you start wanting to do it for the people you love. To help your partner drop the anxiety, your friend quit the habit, your kid grows up without the ceiling you inherited. Hold that thought. In a couple of weeks, I’m going to show you something that speaks directly to it. For now, come to the seminar. Everything starts there.
