Summary: The Law of Resonance is a game-changer for anyone who wants to succeed. Discover how to tap into this powerful force with tips from Mindvalley experts.

Have you ever experienced a moment where you just knew that something you desired would come to life? Maybe it was a stroke of luck, or perhaps it was something more profound like the Universe working in your favor.

In actuality, it’s the law of resonance at work. It’s known as the driving force behind manifesting your desires.

However, there’s more to it than just visualizing that perfect car, house, or relationship time and time again. And with guidance and expertise from the leading manifestation teachers in the world, you’ll learn the ins and outs of how this universal law can truly benefit you.

As Michael Beckwith, founder of Agape International Spiritual Center and trainer of Mindvalley’s Life Visioning Mastery Quest, says, “I’m available to what wants to evolve and emerge through me, and I’m willing to practice and embody what that takes for it to do so.” Learning how to use the law of resonance is the first step toward becoming your greatest self.

What is the law of resonance?

The law of resonance states that the frequency of your thoughts, emotions, and experiences will attract similar things in the outside world vibrating at the same frequency. It’s one of the main principles the universe functions on.

As Vishen, founder of Mindvalley, explains, “The universe doesn’t give you what you want; it gives you what you are.”

That’s why it’s so important to embody the resonance of everything you desire before it can manifest in your life. You have to align yourself with the energy of what you want to attract.

How does the law of resonance work?

Albert Einstein once said that everything in the Universe has a vibrational frequency and that like attracts like. Any material object, but also our thoughts and emotions, possess a unique oscillation, and it happens that some oscillate at the same frequency.

So, when you’re constantly nurturing high-frequency emotional states like joy, peace, or gratitude, your external reality will give you experiences that will intensify those feelings.

It’s like having a radio station built within. If you want to listen to rock music, you tune into a rock station. When you get into a jazz vibe, you’ll look for the radio frequency that plays jazz music.

Similarly, if you’re tuning yourself into lower emotional states, you’re going to see and attract the same resonance. But when you change your inner radio station to thoughts and emotions that make your heart sing, your reality will shift accordingly.

And that’s not all—modern studies have found that human DNA plays an important role in communicating with everything that happens in the outside world. In fact, the Russian physicist Vladimir Poponin conducted some experiments that revealed how our DNA can send and receive messages through the quantum field.

It communicates with the resonance of other people or objects. You can think of it like a giant symphony where everyone is playing their notes to create this beautiful harmony.

Law of resonance vs. law of attraction

You may have learned the law of attraction from The Secret and found yourself intrigued by the promises of creating your dream world. And let’s be honest: who wouldn’t want to visualize the life of their dreams and attract all the tools needed to make it happen?

While they do share similar ideas, there are a few differences when it comes to the law of resonance vs. the law of attraction. Let’s take a closer look at both:

Law of resonanceLaw of attraction
IdentityThoughts
Embodying the feeling of what you wantOnly visualizing what you want
Profound knowing that your desires are coming to youClinging onto your desires
Coming from a place of fulfillment and acceptanceComing from a place of lack

Dr. Beckwith, who’s featured in The Secret, points out that most people get the law of attraction wrong. He explains that just because you want something doesn’t mean the Universe is going to give it to you.

Remember, the Universe gives you what you are. It’s about your identity, not your thoughts.

The thing is, oftentimes, desiring something gets in the way of obtaining it, according to psychiatrist David Hawkins in his book Letting Go: The Pathway to Surrender. Why? Because when you constantly tell the universe that you want something, it reinforces the fact that you don’t have it. It’s coming from a place of lack.

However, when you embody a state of peace and gratitude and let go of trying to fill up that space in your life, you may be surprised at how easily it comes to you. It’s like a magical force conspires to make it happen.

How the law of resonance improves your life

When it comes to manifestation, the law of resonance is the fundamental aspect that can help make your dreams come true. And here’s how this universal law can help with that:

  • It raises your frequency,
  • Makes you more aware of your inner state of being,
  • Helps you take responsibility for what’s happening within,
  • Allows you to let go of what no longer serves you,
  • Help you understand that your reality only reflects your inner world, and
  • Teaches you how to truly attract everything you desire.

Here’s the trick: “We must become an energetic match for what we’re looking to manifest,” says Regan Hillyer, the world’s leading manifestation teacher and trainer of Mindvalley’s The Art of Manifesting Quest.

So, for example, if you want to become a millionaire, you first learn how to be one from the inside out.

How to apply the law of resonance: 5 pro tips from Mindvalley experts

There are plenty of reasons you may be looking to use the law of resonance. Maybe you’re looking to attract abundance, find your purpose, or improve your relationships… Whatever your reasons, there are several ways to go about it.

You can refer to law of resonance books (there are several great ones, like Michael’s Life Visioning). But you can also explore these powerful insights and tips from Mindvalley experts.

So if you’re ready to put the law of resonance into action, here’s how you can do it:

1. Tap into surrendered manifestation

Regan points out that manifestation is about taking your intention and allowing it to be embodied and anchored through you. When you surrender to the process of manifesting, it means that you don’t think about every detail of how to make it happen.

You let go of your intention in the Universe, lean in, and deeply trust that you’ll meet the right people and opportunities that will bring life to your wishes. Of course, you may not want to become Jim Carrey in Yes Man, but it’s essential to say “yes” to the experiences that result from taking aligned action.

Regan Hillyer’s tip: Make a list of how you have attempted to control manifestation in the past—what was blocking you back then? Once you do that, then you can focus on the seeds you want to see blooming in the future.

When you’re planting a flower, you don’t take out the seeds every day or week to see how it’s growing. It wouldn’t even grow anymore, right? You just plant the seed once, then trust that it’s going to bloom because you’re taking action every day to take care of it.

The same goes for your intentions.

2. Set your manifestation alarm

The energetic alignment comes first when talking about the law of resonance. So it’s important to learn to cultivate the frequency of having your manifestation now from the inside out, as Regan suggests in her Mindvalley Quest.

And one powerful practice to help you embody the profound resonance of joy and abundance is setting a manifestation alarm.

Regan Hillyer’s tip: Set a nice, peaceful ringtone as many times as possible during the day. And when it goes off, just stop what you are doing. Ask yourself:

  • What would it feel like if my manifestation had come to life?
  • What would it feel like if I already had what I wanted to manifest?

Then just feel the feeling and tell your system to multiply it. You can let it rush through your cells and notice how incredible it feels.

You’ll get really good at dropping into that energetic state,” she says. And as time goes by and your manifestation alarm goes off, you’ll notice, ‘Oh, hang on, I’m already in that feeling.’”

Even if you do this for weeks and don’t feel anything, just believe that your energy is shifting on a very subtle level. The more you practice, the more obvious it will be.

3. Embody the infinite nature of the universe

Because everything around us changes and evolves, if we stay stagnant, it’s like we’re going backward.

The universe is always expanding to reveal its infinite nature, so it’s always progressing as an out-picturing of the fundamental order, the infinite nature of divine mind,” says Michael in the Quest.

So what are you going to do with this infinite expansion of the world?

Michael Beckwith’s tip: Reflect on these questions and see what they bring up within:

  • What are you going to do with eternity? Remember this question as you go about your day and life.
  • Will you grow? Or will you remain stagnant?

Always remember that the universe assists you in your growth and expansion. And it’s essential to know that growing doesn’t mean adding anything more to you but rather revealing the infinity that’s already within.

4. Step out of the victim consciousness

The victim consciousness is the belief that “something is done to me by something outside of myself,” according to Michael. It’s like giving all your power away to external circumstances.

He highlights that victims live in the lie of separation. The lie that you are being pulled far away from everything you’ve ever wanted.

Michael Beckwith’s tip: Reflect on situations in your life where you felt like a victim. Let them come up without running any judgment toward those versions of yourself.

Just notice if you can look at your main story and complaints. What were you telling yourself about those situations? In what ways were you arguing for your limitations?

When you let the answers surface, also make space for any blame or shame that may come up. It’s natural to feel these emotions, so don’t beat yourself up for having them. This awareness may have profound healing effects on your mind, body, and soul.

5. Ask lofty questions

Have you ever tried repeating abundance affirmations, but nothing seems to change in your life? It can be frustrating, right?

Well, the truth is that affirmations might not work if your mind is not fully convinced of what you’re trying to believe.

And how can you? Imagine a situation when you’re feeling low energy, frustrated, and angry. If someone came up to you and said, “You’re living in abundance,” you might even get more outraged.

This is why a more effective solution to affirmations is asking yourself lofty questions. These are all the questions starting with “why.”

Vishen’s tip: Ask yourself questions like:

  • Why do I have all the energy and focus I need to succeed in all I desire?
  • Why do I radiate confidence in any and all situations, and inspire people through the means of my presence?
  • Why is my life always evolving to its best version?
  • Why am I easily able to build wealth, enjoy doing it, and do it easily?
  • Why am I in the most loving and amazing relationship?

You’ll see that your brain responds differently to a request like this. As your mind loves to find solutions to your problems, it may perceive these questions as challenges to be resolved. So, it can bring you the exact answers on how to manifest your unlimited potential.

Unlock your most abundant self

As the greatest spiritual masters say in one way or another, manifesting is about unlocking the infinite greatness that you hold within. When you realize that there’s nothing you cannot have, be, or do, you’ll easily attract those things into your life.

You can stop living in the illusion that your most burning desires are separated from you. And slowly, this journey of self-discovery reveals that you can actually tune vibrations into the higher frequencies of love, peace, and abundance.
