Many people look at money with a disdainful eye because they believe that money doesn’t buy happiness.
And they’re right— the things that bring us true happiness in life are completely free.
But money can give us freedom, flexibility, ease, and comfort. Money can open doors we would have never imagined.
And that’s why it’s so important to set financial goals.
Without financial goals, we don’t know how to channel our efforts. But when we have something concrete to strive towards, it can make all the difference in the world.
We’re going to take a closer look at what a financial goal is, how to set one, and four ways you can use the Law of Attraction to make your financial dreams a reality.
What Is a Financial Goal Example?
Most people don’t look at money as a means to freedom. Why? Because they are too focused on simply trying to get by.
They unwillingly clock in at their stale office every day, counting down the hours to go home. And they spend most of their time and energy trying to attain just enough money.
“Why on earth would I ever set a financial goal?”, you ask. “What’s the point? It’s enough of a struggle just getting by.”
But maybe what you need to try is setting a realistic financial goal.
By setting realistic goals, you’ll be able to prove to yourself that you are competent and capable.
Here are a few examples of financial goals:
- Open a savings account.
- Create a personal budget.
- Pay off a credit card.
- Save for a vacation.
- Create an emergency fund.
- Save for retirement.
- Raise your credit score.
- Purchase something for your home.
- Read a personal finance book.
- Create automatic savings.
How do these financial goals resonate with you? Are there any goals from this list you’d like to try and tackle?
Let’s see if we can’t get even more specific to help you find the financial goal that best meets your personal needs.
What are the three different types of financial goals?
Financial goals can be categorized into one of three categories:
- Short-term
- Mid-term
- Long-term
Short-term goals are financial goals you’d like to accomplish in 12 months or less. Mid-term goals are goals that may take up to five years to complete. And long-term goals are ones that you may not reap the rewards of for decades to come.

It’s important to have a healthy mix of all three types of financial goals.
Short-term goals keep you focused on how you’d like to change your present-day circumstances, while long-term goals keep you motivated and inspired for building the ideal future you want for yourself and your family.
What are your personal financial goals?
So, how might you classify your current financial goals?
Do you have a mix of short- and long-term aspirations?
If all your dreams feel like they’re far out of reach, you may want to focus on building some short-term goals.
And if you have no idea what you want your future to look like? Maybe it’s time to start conjuring those long-term visions, my friend.
And the Law of Attraction can help take you there.

Simply put, the Law of Attraction is constantly drawing matching energies together.
For example, thoughts of health attract health, thoughts of love attract love, and thoughts of financial abundance attract financial abundance.
It’s as simple (or as difficult) as that.
Ready to get started? Here’s how to leverage the Laws of Attraction to reach your personal financial goals.
4 Ways to Reach Your Financial Goals
As you tell the story the way you want it to be, the Universe has to comply. It has to.
— Abraham Hicks
The Law of Attraction can help you create financial goals, meet them, and surpass them.

Here are four ways to change the way you think about, approach, and attract money into your life.
1. Tell a new story about money
Most people look at money from a perspective of lack.
Yes, they think of money, but instead of thinking of having money, they focus on their lack of money.
And guess what they get? A lack of money.
In order to reach our personal financial goals, it is crucial that we first change our perspective from that of lack to that of abundance.
In order to fully step into a new reality, we must leave our previous financial story behind. Our old financial story may sound something like this:
- “I always have to work hard for money.”
- “When money does come, it quickly leaves and I am in a constant battle to get it.”
A new financial story to start telling yourself might sound like this:
- “Money is like breath, it flows, it comes just as I need— it is always there for me.”
- “I’m a magnet for infinite prosperity.”
- “I have an occupation that thrills me. I constantly experience ever-flowing prosperity and financial abundance.”
See how you can start appreciating what you already have. Even if it feels like you don’t have much. Find the small things in your day to be grateful for. This entirely changes the vibration of your energy.
Imagine you already have the money, the car, the vacation, the savings funds. Give thanks to the Universe for bringing it to you. Allow yourself to be filled with the love and gratitude and appreciation you feel for having your every need met and surpassed.
If you do this, the money will come — and you will be astonished by the creative ways the Universe finds to bring abundance into your life.
2. Forget the ‘How’s’
Your income can only grow to the extent that you do.
—T. Harv Eker
This leads us to another crucial step to achieving your goals of finance — leave the cursed ‘how’s’ behind!
The Universe will find amazing ways to bring your desires to fruition.

But here’s the thing: the more we stress and try and figure out “how” the money will come, the more we resist and block the money from actually manifesting itself in our lives.
Instead of focusing on the end goal of having received the money, we focus on specific ways of getting it (like scoring a better-paying job).
Not to say that trying to find different ways to seek abundance is bad. You just have to be careful not to close yourself off to the other opportunities that might be opening themselves to you.
Don’t get so stuck or focused on a single path that you’re unable to be flexible and accept alternate routes to success.
3. Move beyond visualization
Visualization is often touted as the number one way to bring your personal financial goals into reality.
But visualization alone is not the trick — the key to manifestation is in the vibrations you give off, not the images you hold in your head.
Your vibration and your current feeling are completely entangled. The wonderful thing about visualization is that the feeling is sure to follow.
The images we hold in our mind’s eye act as cogs in a real machine. But really, it’s the feelings that accompany these images that get the work done.
So, if you want to visualize yourself in a brand new car, don’t just think about the car.
Really put yourself there: feel how the steering wheel will feel in your hands, feel how the awesome sound system will vibrate throughout your body, feel the wind through your hair as you cruise along the highway.
Really get the feeling of having this new car.
Another great visualization is to imagine buying dinner for your friends.
When everyone goes to pull out their cards and pay for the bill, imagine yourself standing up and saying, “No, it’s okay, I’ve got this one,” with a big smile. This scenario is sure to produce great feelings of prosperity and confidence.
4. Use affirmations
Affirmations, affirmations, affirmations!
Affirmations are used to re-mind yourself throughout the day of your financial abundance.
But the key with these affirmations is to not only say them to yourself (as often as you can), but to really, really feel them as you say them.

By repeating these affirmations, your goals of finance are sure to manifest.
- My positive thoughts of money are coming true right now.
- I am worthy of success and financial abundance.
- I am a magnet for wealth and prosperity.
- There is enough money and abundance for everyone.
- I align myself with financial abundance and joy.
- I graciously welcome money into my life.
- Life is so easy, money flows to me freely.
- I love having money; money loves being in my life.
- Prosperity flows to my life in both expected and unexpected ways.
- The more I enjoy life, the more money I make.
You can easily make up your own affirmations, as well — just make sure they promote positive emotions when you think of them.
