The questions that always bothers us- are we smart enough to be considered smart? How much does it take for one to recognize him as a genious? Would I be able to pass the genious test, or am I a mere mortal?
Well, it’s natural that all of these questions are flying around our heads, as it’s in our nature to compete, be the smartest, and even reach some higher state of understanding. And there’s nothing wrong with it.
Do you know that only 0.25% of us gets to ever be recognized as smarties (scientifically)? Yet, given the fact that there are almost 8 billion people around the world, there are good chances that you are in the 0.25% bracket.
Now, let’s see what it takes to rank in that 0.25% of the humankind, and whether you could possibly pass the genious test.
What Is Considered A Genious IQ?
In general, most of the scientific researches show that the bottom line of an IQ that’s considered to be a genious is around 140-145 IQ.
However, there is a huge difference between a genius IQ and the real genious. Genious IQ is just a presumption of being genious. There are people around the world with 140-150 IQ, yet no one consider them geniouses.
To be considered as one, you will need much more than just an IQ. Add some originality, creativity, mix it up with intellect and some great invention or research, and voila- we have acknowledged genious.
What Percentage Of The Population Has A Genious IQ?
Let’s do some math! Given the fact that the genious IQ goes around 140-145 and more, that’s approximately 0.25% of the population. In other words, one in 400 has a genious IQ. So, would you pass this genious test? Are you one in 400?
Well, first thing not to do is trust any of online IQ “tests”. They will make you a new Einstein, of course. Instead, try with some standardized tests that could really give you an insight into how smat are you.
It’s not how smart you are, but how are you smart.

What Is The Mensa IQ?
Mensa is, as you may know, a large society of smart people. In order to become its member, you will need to fulfil some qualifications in first place. There are two acknowledged tests by the Mensa society:
- Stanford- Binet intelligence scale and
- Catell’s intelligence scale
Therefore, in order to become Mensa’s member, you will practically need to prove your intelligence through the “genious test”.
Anyway, the minimum that you would want to score in order to become a part of Mensa’s crew is 132 by Stanford- Binet intelligence scale and 148 if we are talking about Catell’s scale. Simply put, you will need to score at or above the 98th percentile on certain standardised IQ.
Is The Mensa IQ Test Free?
Mensa IQ test isn’t free. It cost varies from country to country. Approximately, it goes around $40. The test takes 2 hours and consists of two tests, the Mensa Admission and the Mensa Wonderlic® test.
However, these tests are the most authentic ones that you can find anywhere. Of course, they passing or failing them won’t and shouldn’t mean the end of the world, but they are quite a good indicator of your IQ.
If you pass the test, you can become an honoured member of Mensa with the right to pay $70 per year for membership.
