2. Celery and apple cider vinegar smoothie

Celery is another useful ingredient for weight loss drinks, as it’s a negative calorie food. This means you’ll burn more calories digesting the vegetable than you’ll gain by eating it.

What’s more, is that celery lowers bad cholesterol levels and is a great metabolism booster.

Apple cider vinegar is mostly composed of acetic acid, which has tons of benefits for weight loss. It boosts metabolism, suppresses appetite, and reduces fat storage while lowering blood sugar and insulin.

Ingredients:

  • ½ cup celery
  • ¼ tsp freshly ground black pepper
  • ½ tsp apple cider vinegar
  • A cup of water

Instructions:

  1. Blend the celery with a cup of water
  2. Pour the celery juice into a cup, then add the apple cider vinegar
  3. Stir in freshly ground black pepper and serve

3. Ginger and lime juice

Ginger contains a compound called gingerol, which does plenty of work to aid your weight loss efforts.

Research suggests that gingerols aid digestion and stabilize blood sugar levels. They’ve also been shown to improve gut health, reducing the odds of suffering from problems such as gastritis or irritable bowel syndrome.

Meanwhile, limes have plenty of vitamin C and cumin is well known for its antioxidant properties.

Ingredients:

  • One ginger root
  • ½ a lime
  • ½ tsp roasted cumin powder
  • A cup of cold water

Instructions:

  1. Chop and blend the ginger with cold water
  2. Pour the blended ginger water into a glass with the roasted cumin powder and lime juice
  3. Stir well and serve

4. Green tea and mint

There are plenty of dieters who swear by green tea, thanks to a compound called epigallocatechin (EGCG). This compound helps the liver convert excess fat into energy with more ease.

For extra flavor, try adding mint leaves. Mint is packed with antioxidants to help you fight off colds and allergies.

Ingredients:

  • 1 tbsp of green tea leaves
  • A cup of water
  • Mint leaves

Instructions:

  1. Add mint leaves to a cup of water and boil.
  2. Add green tea leaves and let your drink simmer for 5 minutes.
  3. Pour into a cup, stir, and serve.

5. Protein shake with chia seeds

There is an ongoing debate surrounding protein shakes and weight loss. The accepted wisdom is that whey protein powder is a useful ingredient to add to fat-burning drinks, provided these are consumed as part of a calorie-deficit diet.

Indeed, protein shakes are believed to help aid the release of appetite-reducing hormones, while allowing you to feel fuller for longer.

As a bonus, your muscles will recover quicker from exercise, allowing them to grow faster.

The problems associated with these drinks only arrive if you’re overindulging in protein, or mixing your shakes with unhealthy sugary ingredients.

The following chia seed protein shake recipe is an example of a drink that’ll do plenty to assist your weight loss program. After all, chia seeds are well known for helping to improve the metabolism of fat.

Ingredients:

  • 2 tbsp whey protein
  • 1 tsp chia seeds
  • A cup of warm fat-free milk

Instructions:

  1. Blend your protein powder, milk, and chia seeds.
  2. Pour into a glass and consume.

6. Coconut water and pineapple

Coconut water aids weight loss by suppressing appetite. It also helps you to feel more full than regular water.

The recipe below also contains pineapple and fennel seeds, which help to aid digestion.

Ingredients:

  • A cup of coconut water
  • ¼ cup pineapple
  • ½ tsp ground fennel seeds

Instructions:

  1. Juice the pineapple, coconut water, and fennel seed in a blender.
  2. Pour into a glass with ice and serve.

7. Kale and apple cider vinegar smoothie

Kale is one of the most useful vegetables to aid weight loss.

It contains dietary fiber, which is a great appetite suppressor. What’s more, it reduces blood glucose levels and it’s a great source of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants.

Kale tastes great with apple cider vinegar, especially when you add a sprinkle of black salt.

Ingredients:

  • A cup of kale
  • Half a cup of water
  • 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • Pinch of black salt

Instructions:

  1. Throw your kale and half a cup of water into a blender
  2. Pour your kale juice into a glass
  3. Add apple cider vinegar and a pinch of black salt
  4. Stir well and drink

8. Papaya juice with cinnamon

Papaya improves gut health and lowers cholesterol levels in the blood, aiding weight loss.

It tastes great alongside cinnamon, which regulates blood sugar levels and improves brain function.

Ingredients:

  • A cup of papaya
  • ½ tsp cinnamon powder
  • 1 cup cold water
  • Pinch of black salt

Instructions:

  1. Blend your papaya
  2. Add the cinnamon powder and cold water and blend again
  3. Pour your juice into a glass
  4. Add your pinch of black salt, stir, and serve

9. Oolong tea

Similar to green tea, this beverage boosts your body’s ability to metabolize fat. It also stabilizes your blood sugar levels, which helps to reduce junk food cravings.

Oolong tea is calorie-free and has antioxidants, warding off illness and ensuring a more effective digestive system.

Originally only a popular beverage in Asia, Oolong tea is beginning to make waves in the Western world too.

This isn’t only due to the health benefits, but the uniquely delicious taste among its various flavors and brewing methods.

10. Green vanilla almond smoothie

It can be fun to create mix-and-match smoothies from the ingredients listed above.

There’s little need to worry about packing too many ingredients into your weight loss drinks either, provided they have good nutritional value.

Eric Edmeades believes that most people trying to lose weight actually suffer because their diet doesn’t have enough nutritionally rich components.

To begin with, the vast majority of people are malnourished. That is to say that they eat too much of the wrong stuff and not enough of the good stuff.

Then, we put them on a diet – for example, calorie restriction. They’re undernourished and now we put them in a calorie restriction program. So they eat even fewer nutrients.

That’s never going to work.

— Eric Edmeades, trainer of Mindvalley’s WildFit Quest

The recipe below is an example of a more complex, yet extremely nutritious and satisfying smoothie.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of unsweetened coconut milk
  • 2 cups of baby spinach
  • 1 frozen banana
  • 2 tbsps almond butter
  • 2 tbsps organic vanilla extract
  • ¼ cup of protein powder
  • 1 cup of ice

Instructions:

  1. Put all your ingredients in a blender and spin until smooth
  2. Pour in a tall glass and serve

There you have it, a top 10 list of the best weight loss drinks that are great, healthy, and highly reviewed.

Granted these are all DIY drinks. I’m sure there will be a time you’re in a hurry and need to have something at hand that is nutritious to grab on your way out.

So let’s talk about how to choose good healthy weight loss drinks when you need to just grab one of the shelves.

Which Weight Loss Drinks Should I Consume to Lose Weight Fast?

To lose weight quickly, it’s most crucial to ensure you’re burning more calories than you consume.

However, in the long run, it’s arguably more important that you’re doing so within a sustainable diet and exercise plan. This will prevent you from giving up on your weight loss plan and putting all your excess pounds back on.

An effective weight loss drink should be nutritious, low-calorie, and sugar-free. Provided it meets this criterion and you don’t overindulge, your exact choice of recipe won’t have too much of an impact on your overall weight loss.

Still, it’s recommended to choose drinks that you personally find filling, tasty and satisfying. These are the drinks that’ll help ensure you stick to your healthy diet all the way down to your target weight – and beyond.

What Should I Drink at Night to Lose Weight?

Studies suggest that a good night’s sleep can help speed up weight loss.

For this reason, it’s good to avoid any caffeinated drinks before you hit the sack. Heavy smoothies are also best left alone just before bedtime.

Ginger tea and chamomile tea are among the drinks associated with a better night’s sleep.

Alcohol and weight loss

If you’re the type who enjoys a craft beer or a glass of wine in the evening, it’s time to put this habit to bed.

Aside from the fact that most alcoholic drinks are considered “empty calories”, alcohol is also known to slow down your metabolism. So daily drinking or worse yet, weekend binge drinking, can technically make you gain weight rather than lose it.

The calories gained from a weekend of heavy drinking can hinder a whole week’s worth of diet and exercise, ruin your sleep and increase the next day’s junk food cravings too.

It’s a simple fact you must accept, alcohol and weight loss are just not a compatible combination.

So it’s recommended to stay off the liquor throughout any weight loss efforts.

How Much Weight Can I Expect to Lose Consuming Weight Loss Drinks?

A lot of diet plans make ambitious promises about how much weight you can expect to lose when consuming weight loss drinks.

It’s far from uncommon to spot suggestions that replacing one meal with a fat-burning smoothie can help you lose up to 14 pounds in a couple of weeks. The truth is: that your weight loss efforts depend on your overall diet, your existing body type, and the amount of exercise you get.

It’s healthier and more sustainable to lose weight slowly and consistently.
