Mindvalley Letter to America

Dear America,

I want to begin with this:

I love you.

I really, truly do.

I lived in your cities. I walked your campuses. I sat in your coffee shops, dreaming of building something that could change the world.

America was where I studied. Where I discovered my voice.
Where I fell in love with ideas that reshaped my life.

Where I started Mindvalley, with nothing but ambition and a belief that anything was possible.

For a full decade, you were my home.
And in many ways, you still are.
I may live elsewhere now, but I still identify as American more than anything else.

Because America—the idea of America—isn’t just geography.
It’s a frequency. A dream. A promise that inspired not just me, but billions of people around the world.

What we loved about you

We loved your optimism—the way you believed anything was possible.
We loved your rebels—the ones who spoke truth to power and rewrote the rules.

We loved your Martin Luther King Jr., whose voice still echoes across continents.
We loved your Silicon Valley, that dared to invent the future.
We loved your Apple, born in a garage, changing the way we connect.
We loved Burning Man, a wild celebration of freedom, creativity, and community in the desert.
We loved your poets, your scientists, your dreamers.

You were never perfect. But damn—you had soul.

You were the lighthouse.
The messy, brilliant, complicated beacon we looked toward for what was possible.

But lately… that light feels like it’s flickering.

What the world sees now

In just six months, this is what the world has seen:

– Threats to abandon NATO, the alliance that preserved peace for generations.

– Pointless trade wars where everyone loses.

– Withdrawal from the Paris Climate Treaty, while the Earth burns.

– And now—bombs falling on Iran.

Another unwinnable war in the Middle East.

A war your people swore they’d never allow again.

Not after Iraq.

Not after Afghanistan.

And it’s not just the outer world we see you destroy.

We see you tearing yourselves apart from within.

  • Immigration raids that tear apart families and have caused LA to burn.
  • Politicians who sound like children while openly taking bribes.
  • Tax cuts for billionaires, while those struggling now actually have to pay more in taxes.
  • A climate movement abandoned by the very country where it was born.

And yet—I’m writing this letter with an open heart.

Because I haven’t given up.

This week, I’m helping my son apply to U.S. universities. We’re preparing for a tour of East Coast campuses. Then, I’m driving from South Dakota to Yosemite, with stops at Mount Rushmore and the great open spaces I fell in love with.

I want to show my son America. Because I still believe in what America can be.

But I also cannot stay silent—not as a lover of your culture, not as a global citizen.

This spiral you’re in?
It must be named. And it must be stopped.

Because true friends don’t stay silent when they see you crashing.

The spiral was not a mystery. It was a choice.

Every war.
Every broken treaty.
Every erosion of trust.

It didn’t just happen. It was chosen through voting decisions.

By people who, often unknowingly, chose:

  • Ego over empathy.
  • Charisma over character.
  • Soundbites over substance.

And I don’t blame you.
You were caught in a storm of propaganda. You were tired, misled, afraid.

But we need to be honest:

When you vote for leaders who enable war, destabilize peace, and govern through vengeance, you are not just voting for policy. You are voting for self-destruction.

What happened to service?

A great American president once said:

“Ask not what your country can do for you—ask what you can do for your country.” – John F. Kennedy

Another said:

“We must never remain silent in the face of injustice.” – Barack Obama

Even Ronald Reagan once called America a “shining city upon a hill.”

What happened to that America?

Now we see leaders who sow division instead of unity.
Who thrive on conflict rather than compassion.
Who look not to serve, but to rule.

And as Sun Tzu warned:

“Some men would set their own nation ablaze, just to be king over the ashes.”

Can you recognize them?

Because now more than ever, you must.

America, you’ve always known how to tell the story. Now it’s time to live it.

Think of your heroes.
The ones you’ve shown us on screen for decades.

Will Smith in Independence Day.
Tom Cruise in Mission Impossible.
They save the world, not just themselves.
They protect their families, but they also rise to a higher mission.

That’s what made us fall in love with you.
Your heroes were never selfish.

They were flawed, yes. But they stood up for something bigger.

So why, in real life, do you so often vote for the opposite?

Your vote is not just yours

I say this with love—and urgency:

Your vote doesn’t just affect your neighborhood. It affects the entire planet.

  • It affects the air we all breathe.
  • The treaties we all depend on.
  • The peace we all hope for.
  • The future our children will inherit.

This is no longer about party loyalty or economic policy.

This is about consciousness.

This is about whether the most powerful country on Earth will continue to operate from fear and ego —

Or rise into wisdom and service.

What the world needs from you now

We don’t need another American empire.
We need an American elder.

Not one who dominates. One who guides.
Not one who fears. One who serves.

Because you were never meant to be a fortress.

You were meant to be a lighthouse.
But a lighthouse cannot fulfill its purpose if it forgets to shine inward first.

Mindvalley Letter America Lighthouse

You taught us to dream. Now we’re asking you to dream again.

The world doesn’t hate you.
We’re not laughing at you.

We’re just watching… and hoping.
Hoping that the America we believed in is still in there.

The next time you march in the streets,

March for all of us.

Not just for the poor or hungry in your zip code.

But for the citizens of our shared planet who need you to shine again.

And when the time comes…

Vote with your heart. And with your higher self.

The choice is yours

Not every election is a turning point.

But some are.

And the one you’re facing now?

This is that moment.

You can vote for leaders who turn the world into a battlefield.
Or vote for those who understand that true power is service.

You can choose:

  • Ego or evolution
  • Division or destiny
  • Fear or future

The world is not asking you to be perfect.

We are simply asking you to remember who you are, at your best.

The America that marched with MLK.
That wrote the Moonshot speech.
That created iPhones, NASA, jazz, and the dream that all humans are created equal.

That’s the America we still believe in.

That’s the America the world needs.

Let that be the America you choose.

  1. Thank you for your service and leadership to our communities.

  2. This is nothing short of beautiful. Brought tears to my eyes in part because of the vision of what America could/should be and in part because of what we’re NOT at the moment. I could not agree more with virtually everything you said Vishen. And worse, I feel utterly powerless to effect change because of the rampant ignorance and stupidity among American voters. The stuff I hear other family members say that’s more or less directly parroted off of Fox News is deplorable in that virtually no verification is done and no effort put into finding the truth – it’s all taken as-is and believed. I can’t believe America is willing to stick their heads that far into the sand… #2inchestotheright

PS: I’m not signing my name to this BECAUSE of the rampant stupidity and the potential that someone might decide it’s a smart move to threaten another American just because he or she (or they) has a different opinion. And it’s sadder still that I now feel this way. I didn’t historically shy away from signing comments like this but we live in a different, darker world here right now.

  3. Thank you for using your platform to speak up and hopefully wake up some us citizens!
A fascist in power needs to be named and fought.
All the best from Austria, the country that gave birth to Hitler.

  4. The type of people (me included) that read deep, inspirational, soul searching, reflective pieces like blogs from mind valley are not the people that need convincing. We already voted for sanity.
The ones that need to be convinced to change their votes are currently reading from other sources that encourage violence, hatred, and greed. The problem started in their childhoods’ where they learned those values. It’s a difficult problem to solve.

  5. Thank you for speaking up and for the wise words. May this be heard and shared and listened too

  6. I am a fellow immigrant. I asked for opportunity and got it . I thrived BUT
    1. I got here legally
    2. I worked hard
    3. while I respected my culture, I absorbed American Values .
    4. I paid my taxes

In the 35 years since I got here
    1. I am told I am greedy because I am successful and asked to pay more to a bloated government
    2. I am told its ok to break the law and get here illegally and moreover pay for the welfare and healthcare of these folks
    3. Im told my children should be ashamed if they believe there are 2 genders.
    4. I am told that its ok to be violent and beat up a certain ethnicity because of belief in a foreign conflict
    5. I am told that foreign students have the right to to vandalize our universities and hurt american kids of a certain faith
    6. My daughter has to compete against men in her own sport
    7. I am told its ok to allow every country to keep tarrifs against us but we should not respond

Vishen I dont see the America you see. I however see a real attempt to fix what has gone horribly wrong. we hope your son can come back to the America you experienced.

    1. I wish their was a way to upvote your comment.

People outside this country know nothing about the US except what is filtered through the mainstream media which has an agenda and a clear un-American bias.

MKULTRA was a mind control program that was developed by the CIA in the 60s. I am beginning to believe that it has been revived to turn the very people that were paranoid that the CIA would control their minds into fanatics that are controlled by the same program that they were paranoid that they would be controlled by.

    2. Agreed! What I see Vishen doing is seprating us instead of calling in the one which is all that matter. Consciousness!! This is not consciousness this is an opinion.

    3. I’m sad to see that someone who follows MindValley is just using the propaganda talking points used to divide by the MAGAt party, most of which aren’t true, but are repeated thousands of times so that people believe that they are true. You start each sentence with “ I am told “ but what you have been told are lies.

  7. Vishen,
Thank you for that email this morning. I don’t blame you a bit for leaving—so many Americans cannot. Please send us all the loving healing thoughts that you can. Let the world know that we are not all bad. Please do mass meditations on our behalf.

  8. Hello world and American people. I live in Kazakhstan and met with mindvalley solution a 3 years ago. My mind, consciousness changed.. and all mentors, saying true. It really works. And I even don’t know how. I dont even know how is hard to be american nowadays, with your own problems, politics and bla bla bla.. and mets face to face with lies from your government. Cause for me its a normal situation. But.. its not about politics.
now i’m going to transform my life in other level.. and there are my FEAR. Fear to be visible and be popular. And if you can, please support me @izm_max (instagram). Why i ask you supporting. We are people. ) and when you see my journey from 0 point, i think you also will change. Thank you.

  9. Well said, Vishen, but will anyone listen? People worldwide are voting for leaders who campaign using fear, division and outright lies. We are going through a cycle, and this will also pass. I feel that this unfortunate cycle is necessary so people understand the consequences of their actions at the ballot box, and only then will a new cycle appear. We cannot change everyone, but we can change ourselves, and only then will real change happen everywhere. Do not despair.

  10. Hey, Vishen. When I met you in Tallinn last summer with the Total Wealth Mastery group, I had just returned to the US after living overseas, mainly in the Gulf, for 40 years. I started sentiments like you’ve shared because I was feeling like a Rip van Winkle who woke up to a very very different world than he knew before his long sleep. Recently, I participated in the No Kings protests near me, in the St. Louis area, and that made me teary eyed several times, just knowing that there is a very large number of people who share similar sentiments. Someone with a Palestinian flag, another with a Ukrainian flag, another with Mexican, US and Canadian flags. The last time I had joined an event a little similar was in the 1980s — FarmAid, Hands Across America and other events supporting solidarity. What I came back from the No Kings protest was that there is Hope. Looking forward to the follow-up protests on 17 July. All the best, Shannon

  11. Thank you for voicing so eloquently what fully resonates within my heart and soul ♥️ may your words fall on fertile soil 🙏

  12. I believe and agree with everything you report. I am from the UK and l have mixed race ethnicity. Anyone who is not a white American citizen is under threat. You can be taken and removed from public places without knowing who you are or your name. I would not travel to the USA at this time and l would definitely not encourage one of my children to study there. Even theories and historical events are being rewritten to support fascism. Please take future vacations into real consideration.

  13. Thank you for your courage in appealing to sound minds and decent hearts. I’m not as optimistic as you, and strongly advise you reconsider sending your son to school here. But know that you have made an extraordinary impact on so many lives by virtue of your work, of your growth, of your sharing. Noble and generous as you are, I hope you are empowered to focus inwardly now on your own family, with a clear conscience. The entire game was rigged by design, and it was never for the people… and we are only now coming to this realization. Gratefully, Sheila

  14. Thank you, Vishen. You shared my thoughts pretty much exactly but so much more eloquent than I do. I just get emotional when I think of where we are vs where I believe we should be. I’m going to print out the letter so I can continue to read, think, and maybe become better at communicating these thoughts. And I’ll be thinking of you and your son at my future protests.

    Blessings to you!

  15. I love your work. I look forward to your insightful emails. However, this email disappoints greatly! From what I learned through Mindvalley and other is; you get what you focus on. This email is pushing back – from a law of attraction perspective – the universe will give you more of whatever you focus on (wanted and unwanted). I chose not to continue reading this email as it is very low vibration and I want my vibration to stay high!

    1. Ha ha ha! such a good student, you are too accomplished for this messed up planet, you better move up in the galaxy. When your home stinks, you have to clean up girl!

      1. Instead of formulating a reasonable and intelligent argument you decide to insult somebody you disagree with. Maybe you should review some of the courses given in this platform.

    2. Such a great insight!!! I feel that this has hijacked our “oneness” consciousness on so many levels. Thank you for being so bold as to speak out.

    3. WOW you just injected some seriously low vibration 😳 why would you do that 🤦🏻‍♀️?

  16. Another liberal who thinks his ‘fame’ has made him a political science genius that everyone should listen to.
This is STILL America, and WE voted in what WE wanted and we’re happy with the results. If you’re not happy I suggest you stay gone and shut up. This is NOT your country since you chose to leave.
I’ll be unsubscribing from everything related to Vishen now. Yeah, I know not an airport so departures don’t need to be announced. But when you see your subscription numbers are down significantly after this political stunt, maybe a few departure notices will let you know why. The majority of us who are not mentally sick, are sick of bowing to the desires of the mentally ill people with. People came to mindvalley for actual education, not some liberal’s misguided opinions.

    1. Thinking the herd. Perhaps the message was for you or at you. But your insecurity speaks volumes that you think there are only liberals and conservatives in this world, and not human beings. You learned nothing here, so it’s best you leave and invest the time speaking into a mirror and feeling the righteousness that you thirst for.

    2. I fully agree. I said as much in my reply and this isn’t the first time he’s done this. But I’m definitely leaving now. So tired of so many people drinking this guy’s kool-aid.

    3. This comment actually reveals something powerful—moments like these act as a natural pruning process. When a platform stands firmly in its values and some choose to leave because those values make them uncomfortable, it’s not a failure. It’s clarity. And it’s growth.

Just a quick reminder: speaking up about injustice or holding power accountable isn’t a “stunt”—it’s called integrity. And claiming to believe in personal development while telling others to “shut up” and leave the country is a contradiction worth reflecting on.

I’d like to believe people don’t come to MindValley for surface-level content. They come for transformation. And real transformation doesn’t shy away from uncomfortable truths—it leans into them.

If you choose to unsubscribe, that’s entirely your choice. But for those of us committed to deep, conscious growth, this isn’t a disruption—it’s an invitation to evolve.

      1. What he’s saying is ignorant and one-sided though. You talk of surface-level content but that’s exactly what this is. No insights whatsoever, just the same old propaganda. If you wanna drink the kool-aid, be my guest. This place has become no different than a cult.

      2. I’d like to respectfully point out that you are missing the point. People come to Mindvalley to find a sacred safe space for personal growth. It should be a space where political views, religion and all polarising opinions are kept out of the arena. It’s the only way spaces like this can work. This is why organisations like AA, NA, and all twelve-step programs have these strict rules. I felt so disgusted when I read this letter not because I disagreed with anything that was said but by the arrogance and the decision to use a platform like this to spread a political agenda. It really is not ok. This open letter was a real faux pas. And if people leave because of this please don’t say things that are tantamount to ‘good riddance’. An affront to political views is not something people should have to face on a platform like this regardless of whether you agree with them or not. It should be a safe space for all. And as for you Vishen, no one appointed you our leader. You are a clever entrepreneur who has come up with a successful business model. It really shouldn’t go to your head.

  17. well said Vishen and for caring enough and having the courage to stand up against the dreadful wave of darkness that threatens us all, American and other nations.

  18. This is exquisitely beautiful and so sadly true. Thank you for “speaking up”. You expressed my sentiments exactly.

  19. I feel like we share the same heart, vision, and mission. Thank you for writing this. I can’t wait to meet you one day. From one awkward sinner to another. 😊✨🦋
