Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.
We’ve all heard that education is important but why is it such a catalyst for change?
When we think about traditional education, we usually think of subjects like math or language classes. But education is simply a way to acquire knowledge about the world. That knowledge — about the world, about people, about living — is deeply important.
Yet too often our school systems fail to deliver on this knowledge.
Most schools don’t teach us how to excel in all areas of our lives. They don’t teach us how to improve our consciousness or become great citizens.
That’s why Vishen Lakhiani created Mindvalley — to teach people about conscious practices that can improve all areas of their lives.
The Importance Of Moonshots
Mindvalley’s mission to transform the lives of 1 billion people by teaching revolutionary practices from the best experts is a moonshot — an exploratory, ambitious, and ground-breaking project.
We might never accomplish it.
But in the process of pursuing this incredible goal, we stumble upon incredible innovations and profitable business models.
As a result, these incredible innovations can change the entire world.
From this video filmed at WILD DIGITAL 2015, Vishen Lakhiani discusses the future of education, the origins of Mindvalley, and the reason all companies should have moonshots.
When companies focus on moonshots, they grow. The same is true for individuals.
According to the Harvard Business Review, great moonshots have 3 ingredients.
Make It Inspiring
Yes, as companies it’s important to have financial goals. But numbers alone won’t compel your employees to work tirelessly in the pursuit of your goals. They have to know they are part of something larger.
Make It Credible
Yes, your moonshot should be ambitious but it shouldn’t be ridiculous. There should be a chance of failure but failure shouldn’t be certain. In other words, your moonshot should be feasible.
Make It Imaginative
Moonshots are great because they help imagine the future. So while they should be rooted in today’s problems, they should be rooting for tomorrow’s solutions.
