Introducing Project Renaissance

Project Renaissance

Just wanted to share some news we’re really excited about.

We recently launched Project Renaissance, an initiative to provide an effective platform for local talents here in Malaysia and inspire new startups and movements in tech and creative fields.

We’re aiming to turn Kuala Lumpur, our bustling Asian city and home, into one of the world’s Top 20 places in the world to start a dot com business in the next 10 years using “tribe building”. This means bringing Malaysia’s best and brightest together to learn, share, network, and collaborate on projects that push local individuals and businesses forward.

This idea was sparked when we decided to democratize our office space by offering our Hall of Awesomeness rent-free to local meetups that brought together enthusiasts, technologists and entrepreneurs. In over two years, we’ve had about 200 meetups with over 10,000 participants in our office!

It was in this same hall that Webcamp (a meetup that gathers web developers, designers and enthusiasts with a passion for web technology) and Incitement (a forum that pushes ideas and encourages positive change through public speaking) were born after all. In fact, Incitement grew so fast it now even has a chapter in the Silicon Valley.

So now that’s we’ve got a brand new state-of-the-art Hall of Awesomeness upstairs, we expect to host a series of events in the next couple of months.

Look out for more updates on the progress of Project Renaissance. In the mean time, here are some photos from the launch party we held last week.
P.S. – When are you coming to visit? 🙂
